Static inverter plant - A static inverter station is the terminal equipment for a high voltage direct current transmission line, in which direct current is converted to three-phase alternating current, and, usually, the reverse. Besides the static inverter itself, the station will also contain: Pv inverter - A photovoltaic inverter changes direct current (DC) from a solar cell array to alternating current (AC), synchronizes with a grid and feeds the energy into the grid, mostly a public utility grid. Quadrature phase booster - A quadrature phase booster, also known as a phase-shifting transformer, is a specialised form of transformer used to control the flow of real power on three-phase electricity transmission networks. By means of a voltage derived from the supply that is first phase-shifted by 90° (hence is in quadrature), and then re-applied to it, a phase angle is developed across the quadrature booster. Phase transfer catalyst - A phase transfer catalyst or PTC in chemistry is a type of chemical compound, often a quaternary ammonium salt, which facilitates the migration of a particular chemical component in one phase into a other phase in a heterogeneous system. The chemical component is soluble in one phase but insoluble in the other unless the phase transfer catalyst is present.
